You will be taxed at various rates depending on how much you earn. The following official rates are in operation in the UK for the tax year 2021/22.
Income up to £12,500 (Personal Allowance) is 0%
Income of £12,501 to £50,000 (Basic Rate) is 20%
Income of £50,000 to £150,000 (Higher Rate) is 40%
Income over £150,000 (Additional Rate) is 45%
The thresholds usually change from one year to the next, so for earlier years the rates and thresholds will probably differ. Earlier years’ rates can be found on the HMRC website, or we can supply them if required.
